Re: The treasure of the cat kind
Alice found Max hanging out in the common area, drinking some coffee, and staring at the algae tank like something interesting was going on inside. What the cat was thinking so deeply about - who knows.
"Well, it's an ancient temple - I mean, it's probably not an actual temple, but... It's not the point, - so not much in terms of perimeter security in the way you and I are used to. There probably are traps or something of a sort. Possibly genetically altered flora or fauna as well.
In terms of the computer system... Well, it's kinda murky, but it probably isn't something anyone is used to.It's... One of these systems that our ancestors had before they decided that they needed to integrate their systems into human-made ones and failed at it. It's not completely unheard of, there are some archives like this still in use, but it's either something super-scientific or government stuff, and I'm not knowledgeable in the first and try to stay away from the second. It definitely can't require hardware implanted, because, well, that wouldn't work. Probably something similar to Anere Taio computers, I guess you have encountered one before."
Max didn't explain how he knew, but it could just be that Amir told him. The search-and-rescue mission on the Greenhouse was never a secret; there were things that pirates preferred to keep for themselves, but the meeting with the Sky wasn't one of them.
"In terms of actual software... Well, it definitely is isolated. They didn't have The Net, and even if they did, the connection wouldn't last. Also probably not the 'strong' AI, but could be a neuron network or something of a sort."Max mentioned a bunch of stuff without really explaining much. He might have been hiding something, but more likely - he just knew less than he pretended to know.
